Al-Alamein Festival kicks off in NW Egypt

Al-Alamein Festival, the biggest cultural, entertainment and sports gala in the Middle East opened in New Al-Alamein city, Matrouh governorate, northwest Egypt, on Thursday evening.

The event, set to last until August 26, is expected to attract one million visitors.

A six-member consortium has been working over the last six months to set the stage for the event as per an integration plan, said Malak Asaad, member of the organizing committee. “Visitors will find whatever they are after in the festival, including recreation, fashion shows, leisure sports and concerts,” she said in a televised interview.

“Three major international leisure sports championships, including a beach ball event, which will put Al-Alamein city on the map of potential destinations of Olympic games,” Asaad added.
