Doha: Al Ahli SC announced Saturday the signing of Croatian defender Matej Mitrovic from Croatian side Rijeka. Mitrovic will join the club's first football team starting from the next season. In a statement, the club said that Mitrovic signed his contract in the presence of the club's general manager Aref Abdulrahman Al Abdullah, and the team manager Abdulrahman Mohammed, to be part of the club's football team for the 2024-2025 season. Mitrovic, 30, brings a wealth of experience, having played for several clubs, including Belgian side Club Brugge, with whom he participated in the UEFA Champions League, Turkish club Besiktas, and Croatian club Rijeka. He has also represented the Croatian national team in several matches. Mitrovic is expected to join Al Ahli's training sessions in the coming hours in preparation for the upcoming season. This signing follows Al-Ahli's recent acquisition of Spanish player Erik Exposito on a three-year contract to bolster their squad.
