Amman: Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Zain Jordan, a leading mobile telecom provider, aimed to support national afforestation and agricultural extension plans in the Kingdom. Under the memo, the two sides will cooperate to increase the Kingdom's green areas, develop agricultural projects, support farmers, organize awareness-raising activities about climate change and environmental and agricultural challenges, and hold training courses on agricultural development. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, said the ministry is "open" to partnerships with institutions to support opportunities for forestry and green areas and forge mechanisms to maintain contact , follow-up and monitoring over projects and transfer of modern technology that is in line with the ministry's plans to develop the sector. In a statement, Zain Jordan said this step comes within the framework of the company's keenness to intensify cooperation with al l concerned parties to achieve environmental sustainability and maintain ecological balance to ensure a "sustainable" future for current and future generations. The company also stressed its commitment to achieve its sustainable development goals in all its programs and initiatives. In cooperation with the ministry, the company said it will continue to launch environmental campaigns on social media platforms and various media outlets to raise awareness in environmental protection fields.
