Agriculture Ministry inks agreements to support 120 women in income-generating projects

Amman: The Ministry of Agriculture Wednesday signed agreements with six community organisations at $120,000 to support 120 women through capacity-building activities and distributing equipment for income-generating projects. The agreements were signed under the "Enhancing the Resilience of Rural Women's Communities through the Valorization of Forest Products" project, funded by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). Ministry Secretary-General Mohammad Hayari praised FAO for spreading awareness among local communities about forest products and providing economic opportunities that can be exploited as sources of income and protecting forests. FAO representative in Jordan Nabil Assaf said the project focuses on empowering women by building their capacities and providing them with a toolkit to support them in enhancing their livelihoods. The project aims to build the capacities of 120 women in Ajloun, Balqa and Jerash to enhance their income through forest products, with a total budget of $400,000 fully funded by FAO under the Technical Cooperation Programme.
