Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radhwan al-Rubai on Monday conducted a review of the General Authority for Water Resources' activities. Joined by Deputy Minister Ibrahim al-Madani, Dr. al-Rubai was briefed by Chairman Eng. Hadi Qurai'a and Undersecretary Eng. Abdulkarim al-Sufyani on the Authority's operations and challenges across its offices and regional branches. The meeting focused on the Authority's future plans for managing and developing water resources, including potential amendments to Water Law No. 23 of 2002. A summary of progress in the National Water Strategy Update Project was also discussed, highlighting completed phases and alignment with national goals. Dr. al-Rubai emphasized the need to improve the Authority's performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance teamwork to address challenges. He also stressed the importance of safeguarding groundwater and preventing unregulated well drilling. Deputy Minister al-Madani underlined the need for coordinated efforts to maintain and replenish water sources, particularly given ongoing rainfall.
