Amman: Ministries of Environment and Agriculture and Jordan Kuwait Bank (JKB) on Sunday signed a cooperation agreement to carry out afforestation works on 500 dunums in Hashimiyeh District of central Zarqa governorate. The agreement was signed by Minister of Environment, Dr. Muawieh Khalid Radaideh, Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, and JKB CEO, Haitham Batikhi, stressing the importance of joint action to make the project "a success" within the framework of the efforts made by the Kingdom's public and private sectors to achieve sustainable development. The agreement comes within the national initiative to plant 10 million trees within 10 years, enhance partnership among Jordan's public institutions and the private sector, increase the Kingdom's green area and reduce the environmental impact in Zarqa region, in response to Royal visions, according to a joint statement. The Ministry of Agriculture, according to the terms of the agreement, is scheduled to implement and sustain the afforestation area fo r a 5-year period. Source: Jordan News Agency
