Abdallat Highlights Royal Vision for Empowering Jordanian Youth

Director of the Human Rights Unit at the Prime Minister's Office, Dr. Khalil Abdallat, emphasized the significant role of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Crown Prince Hussein in advancing human rights and supporting youth in Jordan. The remarks were made during the launch of the project "Active Jordanian Youth to Improve the Human Rights Situation and the Electoral Process in Jordan" on Thursday. The initiative, organized by the Al-Hayat Rased Center and Plan International in collaboration with the Prime Minister's Office, aims to enhance the role of youth in human rights and electoral processes. Abdallat commended the leadership's efforts in modernizing political and economic reforms, which reflect King Abdullah II's vision for a law-based state and strengthened democracy. He also highlighted Crown Prince Hussein's leadership in advancing Security Council Resolution 2250, which focuses on youth, security, and peace, demonstrating his commitment to empowering young Jordanians as partners in s haping the nation's future. Abdallat praised the recent amendments to the Law on Parties and Elections, which lower the age for political candidacy. He described this as a strategic move to increase youth participation in political life, reinforcing Jordanian leadership's dedication to involving youth in decision-making and guiding the country's future. He underlined the necessity of youth involvement in fortifying the political and party systems, stressing that their active participation is crucial for building a robust and progressive society. The Human Rights Unit, he noted, has actively supported youth-related recommendations during the Universal Periodic Review of Human Rights, reflecting Jordan's commitment to comprehensive and sustainable development. Amer Bani Amer, Director of the Al-Hayat Rased Center, emphasized that the project represents a significant step towards improving Jordan's human rights situation. He highlighted the importance of integrating youth into the modernization process and pr omoting a culture of human rights. Bani Amer underscored that fostering human rights awareness is a collective responsibility involving the government, civil society, and individuals. Mahmoud Karaki, Program Director at Plan International, stressed the value of the partnership with Al-Hayat Rased Center and the Human Rights Unit. He affirmed their commitment to advancing human rights across various demographics, including women, youth, children, and people with disabilities. Karaki emphasized that the project aims to promote human rights culture and respect for human dignity as fundamental to sustainable development and prosperity. The sessions covered the fundamentals of human rights, including their sources, distinctions, and mechanisms, such as the International Bill of Human Rights, the Universal Periodic Review, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
