Joint forces began a security operation in Khanaqin district, northeast of Baquba, the center of Diyala Governorate. A security source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): 'Joint security forces from Diyala Emergency Regiments Directorate and the Engineering Unit and Explosives Control Faction, in coordination with the Diyala Operations Command and the supporting security units, began a security operation that included searching villages and orchards on the outskirts of Khanaqin district.' He added: 'The operation aims to implement arrest warrants against wanted persons, enhance security and stability in the district, and prevent terrorist cells from finding safe havens in the governorate's areas.'
