The relief ship "Ocean Viking" rescued 46 people off the coast of Libya, after a fiberglass boat carrying them was in danger of sinking while trying to reach Europe .
The European Maritime Rescue Society (based in Marseille, (France) stated in a statement that among those rescued were four women and an infant who was accompanied by her father, in addition to about ten unaccompanied minors, pointing out that the majority of them are from Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia, and they are currently under care.
The Mediterranean is the most dangerous migration corridor in the world, with more than 20,000 people having died trying to cross it since 2014, according to the International Organization for Migration.
The United Nations organization estimated the number of missing persons, since the beginning of this year, on flights to Europe, at 1,728 migrants, which is a higher number compared to 1,417 last year.
