The New Generation Parliamentary Bloc confirmed that the outgoing head of the regional government does not have the right to challenge the elections because he is not the one who determines their conduct. The Head of the bloc, MP Sarwa Abdel Wahed, said in a press statement today, Monday, that 'the outgoing Head of the regional government filed a lawsuit before the Federal Court (the Revolutionary Court as he calls it) to stop the work of the High Elections Commission.' She added, "It is the first time in the history of nations that a head of government has impersonated the position of president while he is out of office. The court must first hold him accountable for impersonating the position. Secondly, it is not permissible to challenge any procedure during the preparation for the elections six months ago. This is also a violation. Thirdly, we submitted a request to issue a state order to stop the work of the regional government and the regional presidency, considering them caretaker, that do not have the right to issue vital orders other than managing daily matters.' She stressed, 'The Federal Court and its president have full knowledge of the Commission's procedures and legal mechanisms, and it cannot fall under political influence,' indicating that 'the outgoing head of the regional government does not have the right to challenge the elections, because he is not the one who determines the conduct of the elections, and he is a state employee.' He must implement orders issued by the Federal Court. Source: National Iraqi News Agency
