Basra Police Command forces arrested a number of people wanted for terrorism and murder after an exchange of fire in the Baghdad neighborhood in Al-Qibla area. The Command stated in a statement: 'The operation came after receiving information about the whereabouts of one of the most dangerous criminals wanted by law in accordance with the provisions of Article Four of the Anti-Terrorism Law and in accordance with the provisions of Article 406 of the Penal Code (premeditated murder) and his brothers who are wanted in accordance with Article Four of the Anti-Terrorism Law, and when the house was raided, heavy gunfire was fired at the raiding force with various weapons by the defendants.' It added: 'After an exchange of fire with them, they were surrounded and took their family members hostage and as human shields for them. After negotiations with them, the hostages were freed without any injuries, the accused were arrested, and various weapons and equipment were seized inside the house.
