Turkish intelligence announced the killing of a female leader in the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in a security operation carried out in northern Syria. Turkish security sources stated in a media circular today, Tuesday, that the female leader of the PKK organization and its military wing, the YPG, Hazal Balga, was neutralized following a security operation in Amuda area in the Syrian province of Hasakah, after monitoring and surveillance operations. The security sources stated in their media circular that " Balga ", nicknamed "Jinda Gundekramo", was preparing to carry out a suicide operation inside Turkey, which required the urgent operation to neutralize her in northeastern Syria before she entered Turkish territory. The security sources said that the terrorist leader was involved in recruiting dozens of Syrians within the separatist organization, which she joined in 2004, and was among the names wanted by the Turkish authorities on terrorism charges. She also underwent training in the "PKK/YPG " camps in northern Iraq, until she reached a leadership level supervising terrorist operations. They explained that she was responsible for the terrorist organization in Amuda, Syria, where she moved after she was injured in clashes in northern Iraq in 2021. She pointed out that Turkey is carrying out operations to combat the PKK organization, which targets forces and citizens and is active in several countries in the region, including Syria, Iraq and Iran. The armed organization is active in northern Iraq and has taken the Qandil Mountains as a stronghold. It is also active in many cities, regions and valleys, and launches attacks inside Turkey from there. Source: National Iraqi News Agency
