Tribal sheikhs, dignitaries and Basra citizens rejected Kuwaiti violations of the maritime borders, the latest of which were the oil discoveries by the Kuwaiti side and its inclusion within the maritime borders. During the conference, they demanded that the Iraqi government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stop the annexation of the Iraqi Nokheda field by legal means and oblige the Kuwaiti side not to encroach on Iraqi territory, to limit the expansion of Kuwaiti violations, which still deal with the Iraqi maritime issue as spoils for the Kuwaitis, and this in itself is a very dangerous matter. The conference warned against being dragged into the strife between the two neighboring countries by continuing and encroaching on the Iraqi borders. Source: National Iraqi News Agency
