An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck the state of Malatya in southeastern Turkey this morning. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Administration (AFAD) said in a statement that the earthquake occurred at 8:44 a.m. local time, and its epicenter was in the Battalazi region of the state and was at a depth of seven kilometers below the surface of the earth. The Disaster Management Department indicated in its statement that no loss of life or property has been reported so far.
