The intelligence and security detachments arrested today, Friday, eight people accused of drug trafficking, oil smuggling, and money laundering in the governorates of Salah al-Din, Baghdad, Diwaniyah, Karbala, and Najaf. The General Directorate of Intelligence stated in a statement: 'Detachments of Salah al-Din Intelligence and Security Directorate were able to overthrow a network specialized in trading, transporting and promoting narcotic substances, consisting of three defendants, transporting narcotic substances from Kirkuk Governorate and selling them in Salah al-Din Governorate.' It added: "The detachments of Baghdad Intelligence and Security Directorate arrested, through intelligence information, a person accused of drug trafficking and another wanted for money laundering in the center of the capital. Two arrest warrants were issued against them in accordance with the provisions of Articles (28 drugs, 36 money laundering)." It continued: 'The General Directorate's detachments arrested two drug deale rs red-handed and accused of smuggling petroleum derivatives in the governorates of Najaf, Karbala, and Diwaniyah, where legal measures were taken against them and they were referred to the judiciary.'
