64 members of the US House of Representatives called on President Joe Biden to pressure Israel to allow the media crews unhindered access to the Gaza Strip. The 64 representatives, led by Democratic Representative James McGurn, sent a letter to Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, expressing their concern about the Israeli restrictions imposed on media access to the Gaza Strip since the genocide began more than a year ago. They stressed that these restrictions have led to serious difficulties in obtaining accurate information from the Gaza Strip. They explained that the limited news leads to doubts, and that "at a time when reliable information is more important than ever, the restrictions imposed harm freedom of the press." The representatives called on both Biden and Blinken to pressure Israel to "provide unhindered media access." Since the start of the aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, 168 journalists have been killed, in addition to hundreds of wounded and detained.
