6-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Indonesia

An earthquake measuring 6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck East Nusa Tenggara in Indonesia on Tuesday.

The Indonesia Geophysics Agency stated that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 75 kilometers in the eastern Indonesian region, close to Timor Leste. Due to the distant location of the epicenter, the quake was felt weakly on land in some areas on East Nusa Tenggara.

There is no potential threat for tsunami, and there were no immediate reports of damage, according to the agency.

Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
