5.7-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes South Sandwich Islands

An earthquake measuring 5.7 magnitude on the Richter scale hit the South Sandwich Islands.

The earthquake occurred last night at a depth of 16 km, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported.

There have been no reports of material damage or human losses caused by the earthquake.

On Monday, a 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit the South Sandwich Islands at a depth of 10 km.

The South Sandwich Islands are an archipelago that forms part of the "South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands," which is an overseas territory of the United Kingdom in the South Atlantic Ocean.
