An earthquake measuring 5.3 magnitude on the Richter scale hit southeast of Easter Island in Chile on Monday. The earthquake occurred 1,309.5 km northwest of Hanga Roa, at a depth of 10 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported. There have been no reports of material damage or tsunamis due to the earthquake so far. Chile is located along the Ring of Fire where many earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur.
