The General Authority for Heritage and Antiquities announced, today, Saturday, the discovery of 478 artifacts in Babylon Governorate. The Authority said in a statement that the Missions Follow-up Committee, accompanied by the Director of the Excavations Department, visited the plot numbered 19/3 in District 38 Al-Fayyadiyah to view the work of the excavation mission working in Babylon Governorate. During the visit, the head of the committee listened to a detailed explanation from the head of the mission about what the excavation work had reached, as the site was divided into two points (A) and (B), explaining that the southern point (A) has an area of 6 dunams, and consists of two layers; the first layer dates back to the Sassanian period and was removed as a result of excavation and natural factors, while the second layer dates back to the ancient Babylonian era. As for point (B), it extends over an area of 9 dunams, where two residential units were discovered that include rooms of different dimensions. T he statement added, "The excavation team found 478 diverse artifacts, including pottery jars, cuneiform texts, and cylinder seals. The statement explained, "Work is still ongoing to complete the scientific excavation work according to the specified period. The missions committee recommended the necessity of revealing all the excavation work and documenting the work in terms of drawing and photography, and recording the archaeological finds according to the scientific procedures followed by the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage.
