Four people were killed Wednesday as a result of landslides in the Batangas region in the central Philippines. The Philippine News Agency reported that the victims were inside their home when they were buried by soil resulting from landslides in the municipality of Agoncillo. Local authorities said that the bodies of the four victims were found, adding that the evacuation of residents near the area would continue. The southwest monsoon strengthened by Typhoon Carina caused incessant rains in many parts of Luzon Island, affecting 183,464 families, according to the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
