The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced that nearly 300,000 of its students in the Gaza Strip have remained out of school for 9 months, in light of the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression against the Strip since last October. UNRWA said on X platform: "Education is fundamental for UNRWA: with over 700 schools across the region, the Agency reaches hundreds of thousands students." "In Gaza, where nearly 300,000 UNRWA students have been out of school for 9 months, our teams continue to offer psychosocial support to the children," it added. At the same time, UNRWA announced the reopening of its health centres in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, after it was severely damaged in January "to support the displaced families that moved back in the area looking for shelter." "Our staff in Khan Younis managed to reopen an UNRWA health centre after it was severely damaged in January," UNRWA said. "As there are no other health facilities in t his part of Khan Younis the clinic is crucial to support the displaced families that moved back in the area looking for shelter," it continued. The Israeli occupation forces have continued their aggression against the Gaza Strip, by land, sea, and air, since Oct. 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of more than 38,193 citizens, the majority of whom are women and children, and the injury of more than 87,903 others, in an infinite toll, as thousands of victims are still under the rubble.
