18 Gaza Civilians Die from Starvation in 24 Hours as Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

Gaza: The number of deaths due to starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip has risen to 18 cases within 24 hours, highlighting the worsening humanitarian crisis faced by the population as a result of the ongoing Israeli blockade and aggression on the Strip.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, medical sources reported that hospitals in Gaza are receiving hundreds of cases daily of individuals suffering from acute exhaustion and severe symptoms due to hunger, including memory loss and lack of energy. This is occurring amidst a near-complete shortage of beds and medical supplies.

The sources indicated that the total deaths from starvation have now reached 86 people, including 76 children. Most of these cases are in the northern part of the Strip, where around 17,000 children are suffering from acute malnutrition. At least 800 children are afflicted with severe and critical malnutrition that threatens their lives.

The director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex confirmed that medical staff have been working without food for more than 24 hours. He warned of a potential surge in the death toll in the coming hours due to the absence of food and treatment, describing the situation as "an organized genocide by starvation."

UNRWA had previously warned of a doubling in malnutrition rates among children under five. It conducted approximately 74,000 examinations between March and June, revealing thousands of cases of widespread acute malnutrition.

Hospitals in Gaza are facing a complete inability to meet health needs, as the occupation continues to prevent the entry of food, medicine, and fuel. This situation threatens the complete collapse of the health system and an increase in deaths in the coming days.
