President Abbas Launches International Campaign Against Starvation in Gaza

Ramallah: The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, has initiated a comprehensive international contact campaign with world leaders and international organizations to halt the crime of starvation being inflicted upon the people of Gaza. He emphasized that the deliberate starvation imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities constitutes a war crime, for which they bear full responsibility.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas, in his messages to global leaders and organizations, highlighted the critical and challenging situation faced by the Palestinian people due to the systematic practices of the Israeli occupation government. He accused them of committing crimes of genocide, killing, destruction, and starvation against Palestinians in Gaza, actions that undermine the two-state solution and impede the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

President Abbas underscored the urgent need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire to secure the release of hostages and prisoners and ensure the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid, particularly food and medical supplies, to Gaza. He called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Strip, allowing the State of Palestine to assume full responsibilities, leading to a comprehensive truce and the cessation of settler crimes and assaults on holy sites. He advocated for a political process to end the occupation based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

His Excellency stressed the urgency of stopping the genocide in Gaza, where killings at aid distribution centers and deliberate starvation are fostering despair and displacement among Palestinians. He urged international leaders to intervene immediately to pressure Israel to allow the entry of food and medical supplies, which are critical for saving the lives of thousands of children, women, and the elderly affected by the blockade.

President Abbas also warned of the detrimental impacts of Israel's policies on Palestinians, noting the financial and economic siege on the Palestinian National Authority due to the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues by the Israeli government. This, he said, is an attempt to undermine the Palestinian government and its ability to support its people.

He appealed to world leaders to pressure Israel to end the policy of starvation and ensure the entry of humanitarian aid. He also called for the release of Palestinian tax revenues to enable the Palestinian Authority to support displaced families, provide essential services, and combat settler terrorism and aggression in the West Bank.

The President concluded by urging international leaders and organizations to prevent the genocide being carried out through killing, starvation, and blockade, emphasizing the critical nature of the current time.
