/ 12/ tons of smuggled drugs seized in Diyala

A joint team seized a truck loaded with large quantities of smuggled drugs coming from the Kurdistan Region. Director of Media for Diyala Health Directorate, Faris Al-Azzawi, told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that the inspection department detachments deployed on the main roads and at security checkpoints, in coordination with the security authorities, seized a truck in Al-Ghalabiyah area, northwest of Baqubah, loaded with 12 tons of uninspected smuggled drugs. He added that the violator was referred to the judiciary to take all legal measures against him, stressing that the inspection department detachments continue their work in inspecting vehicles coming from the northern regions as part of their efforts to combat drug smuggling and protect citizens from illegal drugs.
