Baghdad, The Ministry of Interior announced the seizure of (10) tons of various narcotic and psychotropic substances and the arrest of (6,000) people involved in drug crimes during the first half of 2024. The Ministry stated in a statement: 'According to the orders of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and under the supervision of the Minister of the Interior, the General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs implemented the third deterrence operation with judicial decisions within a series of security operations, targeting drug traffickers and dismantling their local and international networks.' It added: "The operation resulted in the seizure of (10) tons of various narcotic and psychotropic substances and the arrest of (6,000) people involved in drug crimes during the first half of 2024."
