Washington: World Central Kitchen (WCK), a US-based relief organization, has announced the suspension of its operations in the Gaza Strip after confirming the tragic loss of seven of its members killed in an Israeli strike. The non-governmental organization has been actively involved in relief operations since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza on Oct. 7 by distributing food to the famine-threatened residents of the Strip. "The seven killed are from Australia, Poland, United Kingdom, a dual citizen of the US and Canada, and Palestine," WCK said in a statement. "The WCK team was traveling in a deconflicted zone in two armored cars branded with the WCK logo and a soft skin vehicle," it said. Despite coordinating movements with the Israeli armed forces, the convoy was hit as it was leaving the Deir al-Balah warehouse, where the team had unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza on the maritime route, it added.
