Ramallah - Ma'an - The Beitunia Municipal Council held an emergency session on Saturday evening, during which Diaa Qart submitted his resignation as mayor. After the members praised the performance of Hajj Diya Qart during the past two years, the resignation was accepted and Shaker Lutfi Dawla was elected as the new mayor by unanimous consent of the members of the municipal council. Deputy Mayor Salah Al-Mimi will assume the duties of acting mayor, until the Ministry of Local Government ratifies the municipal council's decision. For its part, the Council praised the tireless efforts made by Hajj Zia during the past two years in order to implement the Council's reform, development and service plan, stressing the continuation of work and efforts with Shaker Dawla to work as a unified team and unify all efforts in the service of the city of Beitunia, its citizens and residents.
