Gaza: The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a grave warning regarding the state of hospitals in Gaza, highlighting that the healthcare facilities are on the brink of collapse due to the ongoing expansion of the Israeli ground offensive in the northern Gaza Strip. The organization has called for an urgent resolution to these dire and inhumane conditions.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed deep concern over the situation in a post on X on Thursday. He noted that the military incursions and evacuation orders in northern Gaza are causing further displacement of already traumatized families. These families are being forced into increasingly confined areas, which he described as inconsistent with human dignity.
Ghebreyesus further warned that Gaza's hospitals, which are already under severe strain, are on the verge of collapse. The escalating violence in the region is severely hindering access to medical facilities and obstructing WHO's efforts to deliver essential medical equipment. The situation is exacerbated by the ongoing conflict, which continues to prevent the provision of critical healthcare services needed by the civilian population.
