Gaza: The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed that approximately 112 Palestinian children are being hospitalized each day in Gaza due to severe malnutrition, a direct result of Israel's ongoing blockade and military assault on the Strip.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as having 'surpassed catastrophic levels,' highlighting the impact of Israel's siege and military attacks. Out of 36 hospitals in the Gaza Strip, only 17 are partially functioning, with none operational in northern Gaza or Rafah, the areas most affected by the conflict.
Dr. Tedros reported that at least 500 people have been killed while attempting to access food at aid distribution points controlled by the U.S. and Israel, which operate outside the United Nations system. WHO managed to access Gaza this week for the first time since March 2, but only in a 'very limited capacity,' illustrating the difficulties humanitarian agencies face in reaching those in need.
The statement contributes to international concern over the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where famine, displacement, and collapsing health services are threatening civilians, especially children, amid the ongoing Israeli onslaught.
