The Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in cooperation with security bodies, carried out a campaign Tuesday to seize and plug illegal wells and remove violations on water sources across the country, according to a ministry statement. It included plugging wells and other violations in Ramtha and Bayadir Wadissir, where thousands of cubic meters of water were illegally drawn daily. During inspections in Dlail in Zarqa governorate, 19 houses built on state land were drawing water illegally using 3/4 and 1-inch pipes from a main 2-inch line, and concealed 3/4-inch lines that supplied farms in the area were also seized, said the statement. The Water Authority vowed legal action against the violators, and said its crackdown with the Interior Ministry and Public Security Directorate is ongoing across the country.
