Vice President Meets EU Special Representative, Highlights Importance of International Conference on Two-State Solution

Ramallah: Vice President of the State of Palestine and PLO Vice Chairman Hussein Al-Sheikh met with European Union (EU) Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process Christophe Bigot to emphasize the significance of the forthcoming high-level international conference on the two-state solution, scheduled to take place in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the meeting was attended by the Special Representative's Political Advisor Martin Mikkelsen and the EU Representative in Palestine Alexander Stutzmann. During the discussions, Al-Sheikh and EU Representative Bigot explored potential political solutions, with an emphasis on the Palestinian leadership's initiatives and priorities aimed at halting what is described as Israel's genocidal actions against the Palestinian people.

Al-Sheikh underscored the urgency of establishing a ceasefire and ensuring the swift and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, which has been severely impacted by ongoing conflicts. He also highlighted the necessity of opening a shared political dialogue to address the situation.

The Vice President expressed appreciation for the EU's support for Palestine and urged all EU Member States to take definitive steps toward recognizing the Palestinian state. He reiterated the crucial role of the upcoming international conference, to be held in New York, in implementing the two-state solution and advancing toward a just peace in the region.
