Vice President Criticizes Knesset’s Sovereignty Demand Over West Bank as a Threat to Peace

Ramallah: Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh, stated that the Israeli Knesset’s demand for the government to impose Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank is a direct assault on Palestinian rights and a dangerous escalation that threatens peace, stability, and the two-state solution.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Hussein al-Sheikh emphasized that these unilateral Israeli actions violate international law and the global consensus on the status of the occupied Palestinian territories, including the West Bank. The Vice President expressed these concerns in a post on X, highlighting the need for international intervention.

He urged the international community to uphold international legitimacy and its resolutions, calling for efforts to halt these violations. Furthermore, al-Sheikh appealed to countries worldwide to recognize the State of Palestine and to condemn and denounce the Knesset’s decision, which he views as an attempt to solidify the occupation through force.
