Ramallah: Vice President of the State of Palestine and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh, briefed members of Fatah's Revolutionary Council on Tuesday regarding the political and diplomatic efforts being pursued at both the international and regional levels to end the ongoing genocide in Gaza and counter Israel's policy of starvation against the Palestinian people.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, during the meeting, al-Sheikh addressed the intensive efforts underway to ensure the unhindered delivery of food and medical aid to Gaza, emphasizing the importance of avoiding any pretext or threats to civilians' lives.
Al-Sheikh provided updates on coordination with the Arab Republic of Egypt, Qatar, and the international community to halt the occupation's plan to displace the Palestinian people from Gaza and to stop the ongoing violence.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude from the Palestinian leadership and people toward countries that have announced their intention to recognize the state of Palestine next month. He also acknowledged the significant role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in rejecting any political process or relations with the occupying state until the implementation of the two-state solution.
The meeting also focused on the preparations for the Palestinian National Council elections, emphasizing the need to expand the preparatory committee to include a wider segment of civil society.
The Council reaffirmed the pivotal role of the Fatah movement in leading the national project and stressed the importance of leading the internal reform process. This process is based on national requirements and aims to strengthen national unity through comprehensive dialogue to safeguard the Palestinian people, their cause, and the occupied territory of the State of Palestine.
Furthermore, the Council called for the urgent convening of the Eighth General Conference to adopt a political and national program rooted in the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
