Baghdad: The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced statistics on ISIS attacks and coalition operations in Iraq and Syria in the first six months of this year. The US Central Command said in a statement that the US army, along with the Iraqi army and the Syrian Democratic Forces, carried out 196 operations in the first half of 2024, resulting in the killing of 44 ISIS members. It explained that 137 operations were carried out in the Kurdistan Region and areas of Iraq, resulting in the killing of 30 ISIS fighters and the arrest of 74 others, and in Rojava and Syria, 59 operations were carried out against ISIS, resulting in the killing of 14 ISIS members and the arrest of 92 others. The US Central Command indicated that 8 of the dead were senior ISIS leaders and 32 others were captured in both Iraq and Syria. It confirmed that its forces will continue their operations to pursue an estimated 2,500 ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria, and rehabilitate and reintegrate more than 43,000 individuals and families from the Al-Hawl and Roj camps. General Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of the international coalition forces, said that "the lasting global defeat of ISIS depends on the combined efforts of the coalition and partners to remove key leaders from the battlefield and return, rehabilitate and reintegrate families from Al-Hawl and Roj."
