NEW YORK: The UN Security Council is set to hold a briefing today, at the request of Algeria, China and Russia, on the situation in the Middle East, including the humanitarian situation in the war-torn Gaza Strip. Members will hear a briefing by UNRWA Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, and another briefing by the UN Deputy Special Coordinator and Resident, Humanitarian Coordinator at UNESCO, Muhannad Hadi.
