UNRWA Warns of Widespread Displacement in Gaza: Over 82% Under Orders with No Safe Havens

Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has raised alarms over the extensive displacement occurring in the Gaza Strip, revealing that more than 82% of the area is under displacement orders, leaving people with nowhere to go.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the warning was issued after an UNRWA school, repurposed as a shelter, was struck by Israeli forces on the morning of June 30. The building was accommodating displaced individuals at the time of the incident.

The agency reported on social media platform X, "An UNRWA school-turned-shelter in Gaza was struck early on Monday, 30 June, by the Israeli Forces. Displaced people were sheltering in the building." Despite the significant damage caused by the strike, no injuries were reported.

UNRWA emphasized the necessity of protecting humanitarian infrastructure, stating clearly, "Humanitarian facilities are not a target." The agency concluded with a pressing call for a ceasefire, urging, "Ceasefire now."
