Gaza City: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has raised alarms about the severe consequences of the ongoing nine-week blockade on the Gaza Strip, which threatens the humanitarian well-being of countless civilians.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, UNRWA issued a statement on the X platform on Wednesday, expressing its readiness with thousands of trucks poised to deliver aid, and teams in Gaza prepared to expand the delivery of much-needed assistance. Despite these preparations, the agency highlighted that Israel continues to block the entry of humanitarian, medical, and commercial aid into the region.
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) described the dire situation, noting that Palestinians are experiencing fatalities amid the complete Israeli blockade, which has persisted for three consecutive months.
In response to the escalating crisis, Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has declared the Gaza Strip a famine zone, attributing full responsibility for the humanitarian disaster to the occupying authorities.
