GAZA, The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) called on Tuesday for the protection of relief workers in the besieged Gaza Strip. The call came after a UN convoy was targeted by the Israeli occupation while it was heading to northern Gaza, based on pre-coordination. UNRWA Director of Communications Juliette Touma said the agency's workers are not a target, calling for protecting them at all times. She stressed the need of commitment to the rules of war at all times, expressing her sorrow over repeating such assaults against humanitarian workers in the occupied Palestinian territories. The UNRWA previously elaborated that one of its vehicles was targeted by the Israeli occupation while it was waiting in front of an Israeli checkpoint, south of Wadi Gaza, causing no harm to the relief workers.
