UNRWA: Tragedies in Gaza Continue Unabated as Attention Shifts Elsewhere

Gaza: The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, warned that the tragedies in Gaza continue unabated, while attention is diverted elsewhere.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Lazzarini explained, in a statement on the official page of the Relief Agency, that dozens have been killed and injured in the past days, including hungry people who tried to obtain food within a deadly distribution system. He highlighted the ongoing humanitarian crisis, emphasizing the persistent danger faced by residents attempting to secure basic necessities.

Lazzarini pointed out that restrictions imposed on the entry of aid through the United Nations, including UNRWA, continue despite the availability of large quantities of aid ready to enter Gaza. He stressed that these restrictions are a significant barrier to relief efforts, exacerbating the dire situation faced by the population.

Moreover, Lazzarini noted the severe fuel shortage is now hindering the provision of basic services, especially health and water. The scarcity of fuel is impacting the operation of hospitals and the availability of clean water, further endangering the lives of those already in a vulnerable situation. The Relief Agency continues to call for urgent international attention and action to address these critical challenges.
