Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Sunday that its flour supplies in the Gaza Strip have been depleted. The agency stated that the situation is dire as hunger is deepening in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, UNRWA shared in a post on X that people, including many children, are hoping to get some food to survive, with charitable organizations distributing warm meals. The World Food Programme (WFP) also announced that it has fully depleted its food stocks in Gaza, compounding the crisis.
UNRWA further explained that nearly 3,000 of its trucks loaded with lifesaving aid are ready to enter Gaza. However, the entry of these aid shipments is currently blocked by Israel, exacerbating the humanitarian situation.
Gaza is home to approximately 2.4 million residents who are heavily reliant on humanitarian aid. This support has come to a complete halt since March 2, following Israel's closure of the Karam Abu Salem, Zikim, and Beit Hanoun crossings, effectively cutting off critical supplies to the region.
The organization stressed the urgent need for the siege imposed by Israel on Gaza to be lifted. The ongoing blockade, which has been in place for years, continues to have devastating effects on the population.
