Gaza: The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese, expressed her sorrow over the suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli starvation policies, saying, “Your hunger is our shame.”
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, this statement was made in a post on the X platform, marking the 60th day since Israel decided to close all crossings into the Palestinian Strip, halting the entry of food supplies and aid. This move has been described as using food as a weapon in its conflict with Gaza.
Albanese questioned why, after 19 months of violence described as genocidal, and 60 days without food supplies reaching Gaza, Palestinians are left to scramble for food, portraying a dire picture to the world.
Since March 2, the closure of Gaza Strip’s crossings has prevented the entry of food, relief, medical aid, and goods, leading to a significant deterioration in the humanitarian situation in the region.
