Ramallah: The Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Muhannad Hadi, underscored the organization’s ongoing commitment to providing critical assistance to the Palestinian people. He highlighted the intensified efforts made to address the humanitarian needs amid the escalating situation in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, while reaffirming the fundamental right of Palestinians to live in peace, akin to the rest of the world’s populations.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the deputy secretary general of the Fatah Central Committee, Sabri Saidam, emphasized the central role of the United Nations and its various institutions in providing humanitarian assistance. He highlighted the vital services these organizations offer to the Palestinian people, both domestically and abroad, particularly in Gaza.
He also praised the humanitarian and relief efforts carried out by these institutions despite the financial restrictions imposed on them.
This came during a meeting in Ramallah on Wednesday, during which the importance of urgently providing necessary aid to Gaza was emphasized, particularly for those returning to their homes and neighborhoods that have been destroyed.
The meeting also addressed the nature of urgent interventions, particularly in the sectors of health, education, and infrastructure in Gaza.
The meeting further emphasized the need for the Palestinian Authority to continue fulfilling its responsibilities in the Strip, through coordination and integration with the efforts being made by the United Nations.
Sidem emphasized the importance of uniting efforts and ensuring their alignment with the official and grassroots Palestinian efforts.
He condemned Israel’s calls to halt the operations of UNRWA, clarifying that what the occupying state and some of its supporters seek is effectively a death sentence for the Palestinian refugee community, both in the homeland and in the diaspora.
