The United Nations (UN) Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, expressed grave concern on Tuesday over the continued Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. In his regular briefing to the Security Council, Wennesland reiterated that all Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have no legal validity and constitute a flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions, calling on the Israeli government to cease all settlement activities immediately. On Gaza, Wennesland said that the ongoing hostilities in Gaza are exacerbating instability in the region, stressing the need to agree on the deal on the table. Source: Jordan News Agency
