Two Palestinians Sustain Injuries in Colonists’ Attack Near Nablus

Nablus: Two Palestinians on Tuesday evening sustained injuries in an attack by Israeli colonists in the village of Osarin, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to local and medical sources. They reported that the injuries occurred as the villagers attempted to fend off an attack on their village by Israeli colonists, who were under the protection of the occupying forces. The injured individuals were subsequently taken to a local medical center for treatment. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the incident took place as colonists, protected by the occupying forces, entered the main entrance of the al-Lubban ash-Sharqiyya village, also located south of Nablus. During their incursion, the colonists performed Talmudic rituals, which obstructed the free movement of Palestinians trying to enter or exit the village. This was compounded by the presence of soldiers who closed the metal gate at the village entrance, further restricting access. Violence by colonists against Palestinians and their property is a common occurrence in the West Bank. Such acts of violence are rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. The types of violence perpetrated by colonists include property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes. In the West Bank and East Jerusalem, approximately 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies that are considered violations of international law.
