Turkish, Bulgarian Foreign Ministers Discuss Black Sea Security, Illegal Immigration
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed on Tuesday with his Bulgarian counterpart Maria Gabriel ways to establish security in the Black Sea Region.
The two sides also discussed during the meeting efforts to combat the illegal immigration that both countries deal with.
After the meeting, Fidan stated in a press conference that Turkiye’s accession to the European Union (EU) will enhance the union’s position as a global player, however, some EU member states do not believe or prefer this.
Fidan called on the member states to seize Turkiye’s interest before the window of opportunity closes.
On her part, Gabriel affirmed Bulgaria’s support for Turkiye’s efforts to join the EU.
She added that joining the Schengen Area is a priority for Bulgaria and Turkiye, which is an important partner to her country as well as the EU.
