Tulkarm: Tulkarm Governor Abdullah Kmail briefed Brigadier Jason Langille, Commander of the Canadian Security Mission, on the situation in the governorate amid the ongoing Israeli aggression against the city and its two refugee camps, Tulkarm and Nur Shams.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, during a meeting with the Canadian official, Kmail highlighted the repercussions of the ongoing aggression, including the forced displacement of residents, the systematic destruction of infrastructure, and the demolition of homes. The governor underscored the difficult humanitarian and living conditions due to ongoing violations, including attacks on Palestinians in Beit Lid, Ramin, and other towns, as well as the closures and siege imposed on the area.
Kmail conveyed greetings from President Mahmoud Abbas and affirmed the Palestinian leadership's appreciation of Canada's positions, including its recognition of the State of Palestine and support for Palestinian rights. He warned of the gravity of the situation caused by the occupation aggression, stressing that it has created complex conditions affecting life in the governorate at multiple levels.
The meeting also addressed Tulkarm's deteriorating economic conditions, attributed to restricted access of Palestinians from the 1948 areas, a financial crisis due to the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues, and the suspension of Palestinian workers from jobs inside the 1948 areas. These conditions have severely impacted economic and commercial activity as well as the private sector.
Brigadier Langille expressed his keenness to understand the governorate's conditions, coordinate positions, and follow up on its needs. He reiterated Canada's supportive stance toward the Palestinian people and its commitment to assisting them.
