Tulkarm: 87 Days of Aggression and Escalation in Tulkarm and Refugee Camps

Tulkarm: The Israeli occupation forces continue their aggression against the city of Tulkarm and its camp for the 87th consecutive day, and for the 74th day against the Nur Shams camp, amid an ongoing escalation of incursions, raids, and vandalism.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, a loud explosion was reported this morning in the Jabal al-Iskan area opposite the Nur Shams camp, east of Tulkarm city. It was later confirmed that the occupation forces had detonated a suspicious object in the area. The forces maintain a siege of the Nur Shams camp, deploying infantry units around and within its neighborhoods, amidst the firing of live ammunition and sound bombs. Residents attempting to reach their homes are pursued, and young men are arrested and taken to military barracks.

Last night, occupation soldiers heavily deployed in the Tulkarm camp, causing destruction to properties after expelling residents, rendering the camp devoid of life. Eyewitnesses noted the presence of forces conducting searches in the al-Hadaida neighborhood, firing flares above the camp, which was isolated with earth mounds and barbed wire.

In a related development, forces and bulldozers stormed the al-Salam neighborhood and Dhnaba suburb east of the city at dawn. Main streets were patrolled, and sweeps and searches were conducted. Concurrently, Tulkarm city faces daily incursions and raids in its neighborhoods and markets with forces deploying foot and mobile vehicles. Measures against citizens, particularly young men, include detention, abuse, confiscation of ID cards and mobile phones, and arrests.

The forces continue to forcibly displace residents from the eastern neighborhood adjacent to the Abu al-Foul neighborhood in Tulkarm camp, forcing families to evacuate homes. Homes and buildings on Nablus Street and the northern neighborhood are seized and converted into military barracks, with vehicles and bulldozers stationed nearby.

Ongoing aggression and escalation have resulted in the deaths of 13 citizens, including a child and two women, one eight months pregnant. Dozens have been injured and arrested. Over 4,000 families, comprising more than 24,000 residents, have been forcibly displaced from the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps, and hundreds from the northern neighborhood after homes were seized and converted into military barracks.

The aggression has caused widespread destruction to infrastructure, including homes, shops, and vehicles, which were demolished, burned, vandalized, looted, and stolen. In the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps, 396 homes were completely destroyed and 2,573 partially destroyed, with entrances and alleys closed off with earth mounds.
