Amman: The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) participated in the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-24), hosted by the Uganda Communications Commission in Kampala from July 1-4. According to a statement by the TRC on Thursday, global heads of telecommunications regulatory bodies and industry leaders convened at the symposium to exchange ideas and insights on critical regulatory matters within the sector. Participation in the symposium aims to foster dialogue among regulators, policymakers, legislators, officials, and stakeholders in the communications and information technology sectors. It serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences on key regulatory issues and advancements in global telecommunications practices. Bassam Al-Sarhan, CEO of the TRC, emphasized during round table discussions with global telecommunications sector CEOs the challenges and opportunities presented by transformative technologies. He highlighted the crucial role of regulatory measures in maximizing commu nication benefits, managing risks, and ensuring comprehensive and responsible technological integration. As a keynote speaker in a session titled "Artificial Intelligence and Robots for Making a Positive Impact," Al-Sarhan addressed the regulatory challenges posed by artificial intelligence applications, stressing ethical considerations and risk mitigation strategies. He also outlined preparations for the economic expansion related to AI and robotics, underscoring the role of telecommunications regulatory bodies in ensuring the safe and beneficial deployment of innovative technologies for societal advancement and accessibility.
