Toddler Succumbs to Her Wounds After Being Injured by Israeli Army Near Jenin

Jenin: A 2.5-year-old toddler has succumbed to her wounds after being critically injured in an Israeli army raid in Muthalath Ash-Shuhada village, south of the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, according to medical sources.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that the 2.5-year-old female toddler, Layla Mohammad Al-Khatib, sustained a critical injury to the head from live ammunition fired by Israeli occupation forces during the raid on the village.

PRCS added that its crews transferred the casualty to a hospital for treatment, where she succumbed to her wounds a few minutes later. Earlier this evening, special Israeli occupying forces entered the village and besieged a house.

The forces deployed snipers around the house and ordered the occupants to come out via loudspeakers, triggering confrontations. Israel has been conducting a massive raid on Jenin city and refugee camp for the fourth consecutive day, resulting in the deaths of 14 Palestinians and forcing 1,800 Palestinian residents to flee the refugee camp.

This comes as the occupation forces have tightened military measures across the occupied West Bank, following the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of the Gaza ceasefire. The measures have included the use of military gates, barriers, and concrete blocks to isolate cities and governorates.

The Israeli military actions coincide with ongoing attacks by Israeli settlers across the West Bank, aimed at displacing Palestinians to seize their lands and construct illegal Jewish settlements that fragment Palestinian communities.
